Social Participation

The Social Participation Technical Network (SPTN) was first convened to advise WHO during the development of Voice, agency, empowerment - handbook on social participation for universal health coverage. Since the launch of the Handbook in May 2021, the Network has been more focused on accelerating implementation of the recommendations in the Handbook and is now called the Social Participation Network (SPN).

Within the SPN, an Advocacy Working Group is supporting Member States in pursuit of a World Health Assembly resolution on social participation in 2024. WHO has drafted a technical background paper– synthesizing key messages from the Handbook – as the basis for a broad multi-stakeholder consultation.

Please see below for further information about the consultation and associated documents.
